REPORTING FROM THE FRONT LINE- Paris Fashion Week

The end of the weekend bought in fresh news from my Paris contact who at the moment is busy doing the rounds this week at Paris Fashion Week- lucky so-and-so...

Ok here goes, it was Sonia Rykiel's catwalk show that quickly became the talk around the city of lights. Taking place on Sunday 8th March, it had the front row fashion journalists jotting down mercilessly onto their pad. Why? Well she had her models talk as they twirled down the catwalk, saying phrases like "je m'appelle Imogen and i'm wearing a knit dress". Bravo i say- i love it when a designer is creative, makes the 2-3 minutes of runway time a bit more exciting.

SONIA RYKIEL'S TALKING CATWALK SHOW

When it comes to Sonia Rykiel's collection it was all about boyish pantsuits with sequinns and ruffles, and Rykiel's signature sweater dresses where complimented with sparkles- yummy!

Paris fashion week talk was also all about the Lacroix fashion show on Sunday 8th March 2009 that took place in a gritty Parisian car park. "Mmmmm" was all most of the attendees had to say, because to be quite honest a carpark is a no-no for me. The collection was all jewel coloured coats, metallic mini crinis, sweetheart necklines and lace sleeves. It was accessorized with flowery tights, vevet trimmings, metallic belts, and tippets of fake (yes fashionista's) fake fur.

LACROIX CATWALK SHOW- NOTE THE FUR-LOVING IT!

With Paris fashion week in full swing, it was the Givenchy catwalk show on Sunday 8th March 2009 that was out to proving itself this season. Why? Well as all of fashion knows, last season's collection was criticised for alienating all but those who belong to the minus 6 size. So this time round they created a collection that was "...to show lots of diffyerent shapes for all kinds of women"- as quoted and said by Riccardo Tisci.

The Givenchy, show in Paris was all about perfectly cut jackets, coats, tailored dresses and trousers. Note that the Givenchy show was no sober affair, all the models adorned ostrich boas and feather head dresses- very forward thinking.

GIVENCHY CATWALK SHOW- ALL ABOUT BLACK

So what celebrities have been spotted, well Beth Ditto ( the rather large singer from Gossip) was spotted making friends with Karl Lagerfield- a man once criticised for saying out loud and proud that "fat models have no place on the catwalk"- mmm yet he speaks so imtimately to the proudest big woman in celeb land- interesting!!!

Ohhh before i forget, there was yet another celebrity who was making her mark in Paris Fashion week was Pamela Anderson. She was spotted strutting her stuff at the Vivienne Westwood show on Friday 6th March 2009- mmmm did I not tell you- like 20 posts ago, cast your mind back- that those two ladies made friends last season? Well i guess Pamela made an impression on Madame Westwood- which makes me wander that if Pamela can walk the catwalks of Paris then so can i damn it!
